Committee Reports
+
Activities Fund
[M. Theoret] -- No change.
Current balance
is $1,572.
+
Activities Planning [T. Falcone] -- Several activities in the early
planning stages: baseball game, wine tasting, mixer with Azalea Park.
+
Common Grounds [C.
Quehl] -- Claudia reported that
the committee is looking into getting an Arborist to advise on all the
trees. Claudia will also speak with McGiver Landscaping about the
sprinkler heads and watering of the entrance island. Tom Falcone
reported that County removed a ficus tree close to the lift station,
which
pumps the sewage from all Hawthorn Park homes. County removed the
tree at no charge.
+ Maintenance [L. Lesjak] -- Len Lesjak turned in a letter of
resignation. The Board recognizes all the hard work he has done
and thanks him greatly for his service to the Association.
+ ARC
[T. Falcone] -- One ARC request
received, and was approved. There is a "completion date" on the
ARC forms. We will pay closer attention to that going forward.
6. Ongoing
Business
+ Mediation Petition
+ Forestry [P.
Whitesel, C. Quehl] -- Claudia
reported that the County tree expert continues to promise his
evaluation in writing. It's just that he has been busy. Pat
reported that the State tree expert also continues to promise his
evaluation in writing.
+ Civil Engineer / SWFWMD [R. Dalto] --
Ray reported that the Engineer has completed his work and promises his
report in writing soon.
+ Next edition of HH [K.
Lesjak] -- Mike Theoret reported that Kathy
Lesjak has finished, and the Hawthorn Herald will be delivered
tomorrow, 6/23.
+
FP&L Street
Lights [P. Wasil] --
Bad news. Patti reported that County standards for street
lighting have changed. FPL does not have any street lights that
conform to the new standard, so as of now, FPL has no plans to install
the street light at
92nd & 12th.

Action Items
Update [A. Stadlin] --
Status of open items not already
covered:
o
2005-02-15-A Fence Encroachment - Patti Wasil --
Patti produced County documentation showing that a Code Enforcement
official has been assigned to this case as of 6/5. Also, Patti
will inform the realtor of the violation.
o 2005-08-25-A Front Entry
Landscaping - Claudia Quehl -- Claudia has all the canceled checks she
needs to submit to the County. This item will remain open until
all the paperwork is completed.
o 2006-02-23-A Sidewalk Repairs -
Patti Wasil, Tom Falcone -- Tom found out that the cost per square of
sidewalk is reasonable, but there is a $2,000 minimum order. Tom
has been working with Patti to see if maybe the 9th Ave. sidewalk work
and the Lot 49 sidewalk work could be lumped together to make it
worthwhile for a contractor. Patti said she knew of a contractor
who does small jobs and will give that info to Tom. Also, Patti
will send the Lot 49 owner a letter to put them on notice that
liability related to their cracked sidewalk belongs to them.
o 2006-05-22-A Front Pond
Irrigation System - Mike Theoret -- Mike reported that another
$500 has been spent with Rhodes Pump Service to again repair the
pump. This time a different control system has been installed
that should prevent the over heating and PVC melting. Mike
volunteered to wade into the front pond to clear the intakes.
o
2006-06-22-A Hawthorn Park Letters - Patti Wasil --
This is a new action. Claudia Quehl reported that she has stopped
receiving copies of letter that Harmony Management sends out on behalf
of Hawthorn Park. Patti Wasil agreed to get Claudia copies of the
missing letters.
7. New Business
+ Lake/Ditch Maintenance Estimate -- After discussion two decisions were
made: 1) We will stay with our current vendor, Lake Doctor, for
the treatments of the ponds. 2) For budget reasons, and since the
need is not urgent, we will table the decision on adding ditch
treatments to the 2007 Board.
+ Dirt Pile West of Phase 3 -- Claudia shared a newspaper article
about the property. It is understood that the property is
currently for sale, again. There has been no change to the dirt
pile.
+ Recent Vandalism -- The Board thanked Peg Mazza
for volunteering her time to clean our Hawthorn Park sign, which got
egged. Peg reported it to the police. Tom Falcone reminded
everyone who calls the police about vandalism must request a case
tracking number. Without that, there is no history log maintained
of the report.
+ New Display Flags -- George Sinclair submitted a written
proposal to the Board to replace the deteriorating little plastic
flags. The Board agree with George's proposal and will buy a
gross of the larger 12"x18" flags on 30" staffs ($120+S&H).
The purchase will be made from the American Legion through Len
Sirotski. Mike Theoret will place the order and cover the
expenses from the Activities Fund. The flags will be stored at
George's house.
+ Dues
-- Patti Wasil said Harmony has no plans to send out reminders for the
7/1 dues. The Board decided that Hawthorn Park homeowners are all
adults, and adults remember to pay their bills on time. Mike
Theoret
requested that a reminder be sent, again, in the e-mail News Flash as a
courtesy.
+ New Colors
-- Ray Dalto proposed that the aqua / teal color of the Hawthorn Park
sign be updated to either gold or maroon. Mike Theoret questioned
the
ramifications of this, given that the current colors go beyond the
entrance sign. The colors are on all the signs, the Hawthorn Park
logo, and the web site. Besides, Len Lesjak and Art Stadlin
recently
repainted the sign. Ray agreed to create a mock-up by coloring in
a
photo of the front sign so the Board could see what it might look like.
8.
Comments From Residents
+ Pratt Fence (was Wagner Fence) -- Charles Pratt addressed the Board,
seeking some kind of relief and resolution to the fence that was never
painted by the previous owner. Ray Dalto proposed a resolution
which Mr. Pratt agreed to: Mr. Pratt will purchase the paint and
Ray will gather volunteer labor to apply the paint. Reimbursement
of paint costs to Mr. Pratt from Mr. Wagner is between Pratt and
Wagner, after the fence is painted.
+ Yard Waste -- We have had problems with yard
waste not being picked up. Residents need to be reminded that
County will only pick up yard waste that is properly contained in trash
cans or bundled with rope. County will not pick up yard waste
tossed into the street.
