AGENDA
1. Call for a quorum of Directors
2. Reading of minutes of March 24, 2005 meeting
[J. Lemerise]
3. Review of Financial Statement and Accounts Payable
Report [M. Theoret]
4. Property Manager's Report [J. Lemerise]
5. Report on April 14 Special Meeting --> After the Special Meeting, the
Board came to consensus on intentions for the two amendments. We
expect the legal wording back from the lawyers next week. There
remains a question about the number of votes required to achieve
passage of the Rental Restriction amendment. Jerry Lemerise will
discuss with Rick Weller.
6. Reclaimed Water Project --> Hawthorn Park residents should
be on the reclaimed water within 2 to 4 weeks. A second notice
went out to people who have not had the cross-connect test done.
Any remaining homes that are not tested when the reclaimed water is
turned on will have their irrigation system locked out.
7. Drainage Gates - Fiddler's/92nd St --> After some discussion about
sandblasting and repainting versus buying new, it was decided that new
is more cost effective given that some of these grates are highly
deteriorated. Our community has a lot of grates and they are
expensive to replace, so the Board needs to understand how many there
are, how many are in urgent need of replacement, how much they cost,
and who the suppliers are.
8. Common Grounds issues - erosion, pine trees
- April 29 inspection by Peggy Dessaint of U. of Fl. Extension Service --> The 4/29 site inspections will
go on as planned.
9. Status of Action Items since the last meeting [A.
Stadlin] --> 15 open action
items reviewed at this meeting.
10. Status of Duties Roster - immediate needs [A.
Stadlin] --> Skipped
New Action Items:
1. Ladies Tea [P. Mazza] -->
Peg reported that the invitations will be going out soon and other
preparations are going as planned.
2. Blue Star Salute - Flag Pole [L. Sirotsky, G. Sinclair] --> Len Sirotzky reviewed the
County-wide plans for Blue Star Salute and also the requirements for
Hawthorn Park to become the first Blue Star Community. A flyer
has been printed and will be distributed soon. Additional
information will be inserted into the next Hawthorn Herald. Len
also has flags and yellow bows for sale to interested residents.
George Sinclair reported that the flag pole will be reconsidered as
part of the master plan for the front entry, which is contingent on the
County Beautification Grant.
Committee Reports:
1. ARC [G. Sinclair] -->
George reported that there were three ARC requests this month: A
fence (approved), a one-room addition (approved), and a fence plus
house painting (under review).
2. Activities Fund [G. Sinclair/M. Theoret] --> Mike reported that the
activities line on the Harmony Management books has been closed and
that money was rolled into the Activities Account, which now has a
balance of $1,432.
3. Standing Grounds Committee - unfinished work [H. Schulte] --> On
behalf of the Common Grounds Committee, Hugh Schulte reported that the
previous tree and shrub work organized by Vince Meli had been completed
as specified except for some work behind Mike Hogan's house, which was
due to confusion. McGiver's service has agreed to handle this
remaining work.
4. Status of contracts [P.
Whitesel/C. Quehl] --> No
activity to report.
o Palma Sola Botanical Park
o Others
5. Entry landscaping
- Status of Beautification Grant
[P.Whitesel] --> The
application was completed and sent to County.
- Volunteer Project-mulch, sprinkler repairs,
repair sign [C. Quehl] -->
Claudia reported that McGiver's bulk discount price for mulch still
exceeds our budget. Besides, there are a lack of volunteers to
spread the mulch. It was decided that we should not mulch until
we do some replanting, and we should not replant until we run electric
for the uplighting, which we can't do until we get the Beatification
Grant. However, we authorized McGiver to fix the
sprinklers. The sign repair was not discussed.
6. Street sign cleaning volunteer project [L. Lesjak] --> Len reported that he and Fred
Baumgratz cleaned the stone work at the front entry. The Board
commended them for an outstanding job! Len said he has volunteers
and can clean the street signs.
New Business/Comments from the floor.
- The stop sign on 12th Ave. NW has been removed, and a Caution
No Stop Sign sign has been erected on 12th Ave. It was decided
that an article on this needs to go into the Hawthorn Herald.
(Art Stadlin to write it.)
- There were comments made about the state of confusion over the
intersection of 9th Ave. NW and 75th St. NW, the need to repave 75th
St., and the status of the King Middle School demolition and
reconstruction.
